Arsenal Should Let Go Those Who Want Out

Star Sports Headlines

Arsenal have hammered another nail into their own coffin when they failed once again to hold on to a 3-1 lead and went on to tie 3-3 with Tottenham Hotspur. I don't want to talk about whether Arsenal have any remaining chance to win this year's English premiership. It is a depressing thing to talk about.

I want to talk about news that some Arsenal players may want to leave Arsenal. It has been reported that Samir Nasri heads a group of five French players who may want out of the Arsenal team.

As far as I am concerned, Arsene Wenger should allow those players who want to leave Arsenal to leave.  It is reported that among those Arsenal players who may want to leave are Abou Diaby, Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna, Squillaci and Samir Nasri himself.

It is useless to retain those whose hearts may no be longer with Arsenal. To do so will be disruptive to the team as a whole, and unfair to the rest who want to remain.

We all know that Cesc Fabregas is an important Arsenal player, However, Fabregas himself had wanted out of Arsenal several times and it may be a good thing too, for Wenger to let Fabregas go should he want out this time.

Arsene Wenger should seriously look into bringing in some new players, particularly a good solid central defender and an out-an-out striker. With new owner Stan Kronke making funds available,
Wenger should not longer stinge.

Above all, Arsene Wenger should change the way Arsenal play. Arsenal should play more aggressively.

For example, Walcott should be told to run at defenders more often, instead of just running and passing or just crossing the ball to his colleagues. This is because Walcott does not often get long crosses from his colleagues to be able to take advantage of his speed.

The way Barcelona play is really not much different from Arsenal's, except that the former mix up their play with clever long balls, chips and lops and running at their opponents especially where Lionel Messi is concerned.

Walcott is certainly no Messi, but Arsene Wenger should give Walcott a chance to show what he can do. With his speed alone, he might just be able to terrorise the opponent defenders and cause enough fear or confusion.

Arsenal Do Not Have The Brains

Arsenal just drew1-1 with Liverpool and blown their very last chance to catch up to leader Mnachester United for a shot at the English premiership this year.

They had in fact led 1-0 with just some 30 seconds left to play. But what did the goal-keeper do when he had the ball? Instead of holding on to the ball, he quickly and rashy passed it to his colleague in front which eventually led to a free kick for Liverpool just on the edge of the box.

Even a not too smart keeper would have known what to do when he had the ball with barely seconds  left to go. The worst he could have done if he didn't want to hold on to the ball, was to have kicked it to the opposite end of the field, By the time the opposing team could get the ball back into Arsenal's half, 30 seconds would have been up.

So, the free kick was saved and with time already up, what did Eboue do? He pushed Dirt Kuyt down inside the box in a most unnecessary and stupid move which led to a penalty and the rest is history and so is Arsenal as far as I am concerned.

Arsenal do not have the brains to win the premiership and, if by the most incredible miracle MU somehow bangled up the rest of their games, and Arsenal go on to win the rest of theirs and the premiership, Arsenal really can't call themselves deserving Champions.

Arsenal's Season Practically Over

Arsenal's season is practically over when they only managed a draw with Blackburn when rivals Manchester United came from behind to beat West Ham 4-2.

This means that Arsenal are now 7 points behind the leaders Manchester United. With only a few games left and Arsenal having to meet MU again, few except the brave, the fanatic or the mad or all three together, will predict Arsenal winning the English premiership this season.

Arsenal's failure to exploit their superiority over Blackburn is symptomatic of their style of play. Beautiful football without bite much unlike Barcelona's whose beautiful football is also deadly.

As I have often lamented, Arsenal continued to pass the ball to death instead of mixing it up with long shots at goal.

And Arsenal's failure to exploit Theo Walcott's pace once again put paid to any chance of stealing a late goal when Wenger substituted him yet again instead of keeping him on for the full match.

Substitute Nicklaus Bendtner almost scored but we know that Bendtner is not your Messi or even Rooney.

Van Persie is an over-rated player. He might have scored some great goals, but he is often lousy at shielding the ball.

And what about Fabregas's commitment to the club, with his oft repeated desire to return to Barcelona? We shall see by the end of the season, especially with Barcelona's renewed interest in him.
